MARKET - BRONZEVILLE Construction Cost: $14M Project Completed: October 2016 Developer: Pershing King Drive LLC Mariano’s, the new proposed fresh market grocery store located in Bronzeville neighbor- hood of Chicago, IL. The site is on the main Bronzeville thoroughfare where demolished CHA Ida B. Wells development once stood on King
Drive and 39th Street. The program calls for a full-service fresh
market grocery store,
with exterior patio
seating. The store
is designed with maximum transparency
long range visibility throughout the community. The design theme recalls the rich history of successful and
famous African-American residents from Bronzeville. The narrative created is through the interior banners
and a street wall
facing King Drive. |
